I am a fitness coach. There, I said it. Whew! It’s official. My anxiety has had me worried about posting this for the past two weeks!!#ByeAnxiety
I will be sharing my journey to get healthier and kick anxiety to the curb ALL over social media. If you follow me, you’ve seen the sweaty selfies! Cute, right? 🤷🏾♀️ Now you know why I'm posting so much. LOL
As a fitness coach, I will help to motivate, encourage and assist people as they try to get healthier. #DASSIT
I'm not a trainer or a nutritionist but I can help them to get access to world class trainers and effective meal plans to reach their goals.
So why did I decide to do this? Here’s the skinny (see what I did there?)
If you 'Google on' healthy woman, the images are going to be 95% white women. Go ahead and 'Google on' it. I’ll wait....
#AmIRite?? You know I am. Search any platform on social media and you will get similar results. Now I’m not bashing white women because I am inspired by their health journeys as well, but every now and then I want to see someone that looks like me, working out, eating healthy, without having to include black in the search.
One of the main reasons I wanted to see Michelle Obama in person is because she wrote something in her book that really inspired me. She talked about how important it was for their administration to make sure that ALL people felt included. She made sure that kids and people who don’t normally have access to the White House were given access. She wanted them to see that their dreams weren’t too big and that this was their White House too.
I, too, *Rachel Dolezal voice* feel that all people should be represented and should be able to see that representation. In fitness, I wasn’t seeing enough of it. So I decided to be it. I decided to take charge of my health and to grab some women by the hand and get them to take charge of theirs along with me.
How, Sway? *he who is kinda still cancelled voice*
As I entered into this, I had to fight off some negative comments that kept popping into my head. Mainly, how are you going to convince people to want to change their bodies with a body that looks like yours? Even when I wasn’t over weight I didn’t have THE body that black women wanted. I don’t have curves and when I gain weight it goes to my gut not my butt! And I’m way too heavy to get a white woman to stop scrolling to see what I’m doing.
So, after nights of thinking and praying, because I wasn’t going to let those negative voices stop me, I decided to focus on my strengths. My vibe! Positivity. Happiness. Peace. Confidence. Hell, BLISS! Even on the days when I dealing with things that are really heavy, I can still feel AMAZING, because I am extremely intentional with self care, mental health, my spiritual connections, and my physical health(that one needs some work, hence this post) Sharing those feelings, as I’ve been doing for years on social media is the key to inspire women to join me. The positive voice reminded me that women WANT to look good, but they also want to be happy, to be at peace and love themselves, and exude confidence! I was already hounding my friends daily on being happy, loving themselves and being confident. So I knew I could hound the rest of the world too! And the programs that I am doing are giving me energy, loads of confidence and I feel great about what I’m accomplishing. When I tell you I’m Fine AF on the inside! Whew Chile!! And I know if I stick with it my outside will catch up!
I’m thankful to have found a way to not only reach my personal health and wellness goals and to invite people along to do it with me.
