Ayyy Mon! I'm back from an Amazing four days in Montego Bay Jamaica. It was fun, relaxing, entertaining, and TOO SHORT! My friends and I planned it on short notice, so we weren't able to stay as long as we wanted. But we really enjoyed the time that we had there.
Here is a quick recap...
Day 1 was our travel day. We met in Atlanta and drove to the airport together. The flight was quick and smooth and we landed in Montego Bay just after noon. We made it to our resort in about 10 minutes because it is literally right down the road from the airport. Once we got to the resort we had to order drinks!! You know, because it was hot! ;)
I was so happy to see the same bartender from my trip in 2017! Hi Nadine!! She quickly made us Bob Marley's with an extra shot of rum to start the trip off!
We changed into swimsuits and spent the afternoon by the beach chatting and eating beef patties. We showered, had dinner, and had plans to attend the beach party, but the travel hit us hard. We were all back in our rooms by 10!
Day 2 was spent by the pool. We decided that we would do a tour of the city later that day. I worked out, grabbed breakfast and sat by the pool and did a little work. We laughed, drank, ate jerk chicken, had more drinks, swam, took pics, danced and laughed until it was time to head out on the tour.
We took a private van and toured some of the amazing homes in Montego Bay, the neighborhoods where average Jamaicans would live and then on to one of the poorer neighborhoods. After that we went int the city and it was people everywhere. Kids were getting out of school, people were leaving work, and shopping. The vibe was busy and electric. We saw a historical site and an amazing church.
Then it was on to souvenir shopping, where we ran into a friend of a friend from the states. I swear I see someone I know on every trip I go on! We then attempted to eat dinner at a local restaurant but the service was horrible! After an hour waiting we still didn't have drinks or our food. We left and got back to the resort in time to eat dinner and catch the Micheal Jackson tribute show which was AMAZING!
Day 3 was a dedicated beach day. The resort we stayed on is small but it's RIGHT ON THE BEACH. The pools are literally on the sand. We grabbed some chairs in the shade, and spent the day on the beach and by the pool.
Thankfully the lunch buffet served oxtails and we really indulged! They were soooo good!
Since it was my friend's birthday we decided that we would grab dinner, get dressed and then catch a taxi to Margaritaville. It's downtown Montego Bay and turns from a restaurant to a full on night club at 9:30pm. It was Thursday night, Ladies Night, so we expected it to get crowded. Our expectations were EXCEEDED! When we left it felt like standing room only and there was a line down the sidewalk of people still trying to get in. We were not ready for that! In our taxi back, there were ladies from our resort headed there but decided not to go since the lines were so long.
Day 4 was our last day. It was Friday and the night before a group of 150 people were arriving for their vacation. We could feel the resort getting crowded. Even though we wanted to stay one more day, we knew that it wouldn't be as nice and quiet as the weekdays were. We had breakfast, and then headed back to the airport!
All in all it was an amazing trip. I definitely want to go back again next year. I can say that it is one of my favorite places to visit. The vibe is laid back, but still fun. The people are very nice and kind. The food is delicious and the beaches are beautiful!
