I am a self care, self love, self more(shoutout to my friend S Hooks) advocate. I believe that taking care of yourself, loving yourself, and making decisions that benefit you first(self more instead of self less, get it?) is so important to a life of Bliss.
What I have found is that many people don't have any idea of what self care looks like. And I believe self care is the first step to self love and to being self more! I have cultivated a quick list of things that are essential to a self care kit. Self care doesn't have to mean, spending hundreds at a spa. Self care can be done daily. It's just small habits that recharge you mentally, physically, socially, spiritually and emotionally. Here are some things I always have in my self care kit.
1) Creative activity. For me this is my Happy Planner. It's functional as I use it keep up with all of my To Do lists and appointments. But I also decorate it with stickers and colorful pens to make it more festive and creative.
2)Bath routine. I love a relaxing bath. It's something about soaking in a hot bubbly bath with scented essential oils that revives me, not to mention helps my sore muscles after working out. Light some candles, turn on some music and self care can turn into sexy time with you and your partner....that's for another post though.
3)List of free activities in your area. There are times when self care means recharging socially. Keeping a list of free activities gives you a chance to get out and do something without breaking your budget.
4)Frozen cookie dough. Listen. Don't judge me, it's dairy free! But some days you want something comforting and SWEET! And having some cookie dough, hidden in the back of the freezer(again don't judge me) can be clutch on those stressful days!
5)A gift card to your favorite store or restaurant. I don't see nothing wrong with spending a little change on yourself as a form of self care. But we are fiscally responsible so have a gift card on hand for you favorite spot.
6)A good friend. A good conversation is one of my favorite forms of self care to fuel me socially and mentally. Have THAT friend on speed dial and don't forget to BE that friend to someone.
7) A TV show or movies to binge watch. While I try not to watch tv every day, there are days I need some good trash tv to unwind.
